WHO IS AWA?

Hey there, my name is Megan Clark! The name Awa was given to me by a dear friend, 5 years ago when I moved to Senegal, West Africa. I instantly loved it! Being given a Senegalese name is like a right of passage. I use the name "Awa" often which has helped me make awesome relationships; most people in Senegal know me by the name Awa.

I’m a wife, and a mama to have a one year old baby girl. I love being a mom, but I also miss working and I miss creating art (I am an artist and have been for as long as I can remember). So, I asked myself, "How can I be a present Mama and do art all while also making an income?". Many family members have been encouraging me to open an Etsy shop or start a small business where I sell what I make. I love that I was pushed, I love that people saw my passion. Each Christmas/Holiday I have been designing and making envelopes and greeting cards and have been told by many that people love to receive my cards. I mean, come on, who does not love getting mail from those you love? So, I did it. I am stepping out of my comfort zone and jumping two feet into the world of small business.

The house in my logo represents the fact that I work from home, additionally the name Chez (SH-AY) Awa (AH-WAH) means “at the home of Awa”. Each design I do, whether it be cards, stickers, bookmarks, art prints, etc., is made with a lot of thought, hard work, and love, (hence the heart coming out of the chimney in my logo). My hope is for you, the customer, that my products reach the right audience and bring a smile to each person who purchases or receives anything from Chez Awa.
